Industrial brass polishing
Systematically producing surfaces suitable for electroplating with Menzerna brass polishing pastes
Polishing brass is associated with a particular challenge: the surface can only be assessed reliably after chromium plating. That is why pronounced polishing marks on the surface have to be avoided. These defects are only discernible after electroplating and lead to high scrap rates.
Emulsions for brass polishing
Diversity of applications for process-oriented metal polishing
Zinc die-casting, Zamek, copper, bronze, nickel silver and magnesium alloys are processed economically with metal polishes from Menzerna. Lamps, musical instruments, technical components and door handles are a selection from the numerous fields of application for non-ferrous metals. Brass and non-ferrous metals can be in the form of mill scale, with throwing marks, sanded with P240 to P320 grit, or tarnished. Metal polishing pastes from Menzerna produce a brushed surface, glossy or suitable for electroplating, in a maximum of two polishing stages. Industrial users polish metal to a high gloss with the P175 solid polishing paste. The superfine high-gloss polishing paste produces a surface free of lines with a deep gloss. The equivalent among liquid polishing pastes is the emulsion PE 25D. High quality brass polishes and metal polishing pastes from Menzerna are also used on drum polishing systems for the polishing of musical instruments.
Polishing brass sanitary fittings on rotary tables or robot systems
The bodies of fittings are produced in a die casting process and subsequently deburred. Then they are usually sanded with a P240 or P280 grit. The sanding process is of crucial importance for the subsequent, usually two-stage polishing process. This is because the brass surface must be absolutely even after the preparatory sanding process. Uneven roughing cannot be evened out by polishing. Menzerna brass polishing pastes also ensure that the degreasing bath is not contaminated. The brass surface therefore remains free of grease. This ensures that the electroplating layers applied in the final step do not come off. The cutting speeds for polishing brass are normally between 30 and 50 m/s.
Solid polishing pastes for brass polishing
High-performance polishing pastes from Menzerna for brilliant results
Menzerna brass polishing pastes contain high quality polishing minerals that do not cause polishing marks. Excessively long polishing times lead to a turbulent surface finish without a deep gloss. That is why industrial large-scale customers count on Menzerna high-performance polishing pastes, especially for polishing brass. They were developed especially for the economical and fast processing of brass surfaces.
